Asclepias incarnata (SWAMP MILKWEED)

Swamp milkweed is a common sight in many wetland settings, including marshes, wet prairies, swamps, and roadside ditches. It tolerates average garden soil as well, so long as there is irrigation during dry periods. The species plays host to a range of butterflies, including monarchs and a number of fritillaries. It sports rose-pink blossoms in mid-summer, followed by large, elongated seedpods.
