Description
Height: 50–90 cm
Color: sepals white or cream white; lip pure white
Season: blooms early June to mid-July (Great Lakes region)
Habitat: seepage communities such as fens, lake borders, not-too-acidic swamps and bogs, wet mossy woods
Exposure: needs bright, open aspect, but appreciates dappled shade of willows and other thicket shrubs
Associates: Symphyotrichum puniceus (swamp aster), Pedicularis lanceolata (swamp betony), Rhus vernix (poison sumac), Solidago patula (bog goldenrod), Thelypteris palustris (marsh fern)
